Overview

A multiorganizational Planning Committee (PDF 16 KB) Download Adobe Reader, initiated a collaborative effort with federal and state officials and research organizations to identify opportunities to enhance collaboration on energy analysis — an effort that would ultimately inform and drive policy making.

Through the development of a shared strategy for addressing high-priority energy issues, the initiative aims to inform decision-makers, improve analysis assumptions and methodologies, and increase inter-agency collaboration. These analysis collaborations may ultimately expand to include participants in other sectors as well (private sector, nongovernmental organizations, etc.).

To better inform decision makers through enhanced energy analysis collaboration, initiative participants identified specific topics that should be addressed over the next 5-10 years, which were explored in the development of a shared energy analysis vision.

Based on the goals of the collaboration, the vision, the Planning Committee decision criteria, and the results (PDF 206 KB) Download Adobe Reader from the decision-maker and analyst interviews, the committee identified the analysis topics that they thought were highest priority.

The analysis topics and potential collaboration activities were discussed in-depth during breakout sessions at the inaugural workshop.

Ongoing coordination of initiative activities are now being led by the Leadership Committee.
